Advocacy Program
Victim advocates provide a multitude of services to help victims and witnesses recover from the trauma of crime and to guide them through the criminal justice system. Some of the services offered include:
- Court escort for victims and their families
- Transportation to and from court
- Referrals for emergency shelter
- Referrals for emergency food or clothing
- Employer mediation
Services are provided to any individual or group that is a victim of crime in Coconino County.
Advocates are available for the initial crisis response through the investigation and the entire judicial process from initial appearance to sentencing. They assist in keeping the victim updated, explaining what happens at each step of the process, advocating for what the victim wants, attending court appearances with the victim or on their behalf, and assisting the victim with meeting personal needs through community referrals.
