Domestic Violence and Disabilities

Research suggests that women with disabilities are more likely to suffer domestic violence and sexual assault than women without disabilities.  Further, they are more likely to suffer abuse that lasts longer and is more intense.

People with disabilities are most likely to be abused by a partner or a family member.  They also face the risk of abuse by health care providers or caregivers and their abuse often includes their diabilites.

Disabilities can create additional challenges in trying to escape or leave an abusive relationship.    If you or someone you know needs help in safety planning the situation,  please give us a call 928.679.7770 or email us at for other resources, Get Help Now!
